Try making up a joke.

Really!

Trying to be funny, create something funny can seem quite hard. It’s not only – potentially – fun! It’s a great mental exercise. And it may help you see how many things can be amusing.

What you can see around you at this moment is not all there is.

There is always something new just over the bridge, around the corner, further along the road, should you seek it.

But there is always much more where you are than it seems at first. Take another look and see the hidden features, signs, details, textures.

When you are waiting for a train, a bus, an airplane or a taxi – use this principle and see what you find. It turns a wait into bait for discovery.

It’s a good idea to have a blank canvas near you all the time.

This can be a canvas, a notebook, a memo recorder or a phone on which you can make a note of a new idea, observation or understanding.

However good your memory, something that seems mild, unexciting or even trite at one moment can be a big contribution to a project you work on later.

Most things you notice, show up to you for a reason. Even if the reason is not apparent now, it may well be a gem later.
