“Upstairs” he said, “plenty of room upstairs”.

It turns out that our limousine driver had been a London bus conductor in the 1980’s and he occasionally forgets that he is now driving a stretched Mercedes 500, not selling people tickets on a London Routemaster bus.

Tide before waves.

The harbor master was away, so I could not ask him whether this was the highest tide of the year.

Must have been something special beacuse we saw our neighbors floating past on their sofa, drinking coffee and eating profiteroles, oblivious of the lack of walls or even their usual TV set. 

People often cope, and clearly, they seem to improvise.

A brush used for hair is not so effective if used in an electric motor.

Not knowing that some electric motors have brushes as a vital component, is a lack of knowledge that may matter to only a few people.

You may not be surprised to learn that these brushes are completely difference both in materials used and in their design.

But now you may be the winner at a party game where the challenge is to name two completely different uses for “brushes”.

Oversized jackets and sautéed carrots have little in common we might think.

What if statistics showed that those who wear oversized jackets universally love sautéed carrots?

Would we be truly wiser knowing this?

Rocky crags and marshmallows.

Contrast seems like a good thing.
