"Wisdom and inspiration: thought provoking, humourous, delightful, guru-like, quirky, energizing, enabling, challenging, alerting, awakening….the way individuals, teams and groups start every day as a Great Day" – The Replies Book

Archives for 2016

Some of the children carried brief cases, while the adults sat in rows, forming spokes, in the round office building.

We are not accustomed to have people work while sitting on a carousel at a fairground, laptops on lap, screens displaying stock ticker and currencies feeds.

Perhaps next time you go to visit a bank and walk inside one of their precious branches, they will ask if you would like fries with that deposit, or salad with that withdrawal.

But that will only happen at a “precious” branch.

There is a way of choosing between things when you have no prior knowledge of what they offer or which could possibly be best for any measurable reasons.

We do this all the time.

But when it becomes the dominant decision-making operator, then it needs trust and honesty and a good deal of courage.

Confident striding into unknown waters is better than paddling in a shallow pool of attack-bred sharks. Known regions may provide even better security, but they may leave little to the imagination and that’s not good for long.

Rarely is a “Reply” topical….but perhaps neither is this!

I really want you to enjoy more than you find unsavory. After all, there are quite enough dark alleys already!

Start. The starting gun was fired and no sooner did my mind say “go!” Seconds later it was done.

So quick, no one saw anything.

But the result was beautiful. A symphony of musical engineering and hand sewn scaffolding.

What a mix. Yes. Too much to contemplate in that second that remained.

The legend lives on! We are so grateful.

Across the road a sign winked and flickered.

Come in, or buy something, something like that…that’s what it seemed to say.

But the sign was mounted on a blank, solid wall. No shop or office window, no door to enter.

Then, it became obvious.

The whole building was inviting and tempting the unoccupied or the curious people who happened to pass by.

When a building speaks, who listens?
