We are considering the length of spaghetti in the engineering of formula Y.

Some things deserve a break, and uncooked pasta, well you know…it breaks easily.

Our garden has no gnome, thankfully, but it has a season.

Time and tide are no ingredient in our miracle recipe.

Hail to the next lesson, and the next…and so on, forever.

We are gathered here today….to wait.

There is a technique to waiting.

One thing that helps you get pleasantly through what seems to be an odious experience is to help and soothe others.

Ask why they’re waiting, how long so far, and suchlike. Amazing conversations often ensue.

Another, is to find a good seat!

I sank into the plush cushions, it was an endless-seeming journey.

Five waiters, a conference organizer and a concierge could not convince me to elevate and wander out of the lobby, of course, they were otherwise occupied.

I watched, waited, eavesdropping on the long-married couple who had centuries of experience it seemed.

Two cognacs later it became obvious that I was now a resident.

A tour bus passed the bubbling glass windows. Apparently you could see everything for thirty nine small pieces of gold and three hours of your time.

Everything!

Having no idea what you’re going to say can summon up a soon-to-be-famous speech.

Thinking on the spot.

Dreaming it up.

Creating something from nothing.

Perhaps there is no such thing as nothing.

And perhaps standing in the square waiting for a space on a bench to free up so that you can eat your sandwich is sheer mastery in progress.

Just as a spot on the show became available, the training was about to start.

Do the show? Or take the training?

Enjoy the audience (hopefully), or learn and expand skills?

Neither is guaranteed (this is real life!).

That’s not possible, they won’t allow it, and even if I wear a disguise, believe me, they’ll know that there I am again!
