Something started an alarm.

Bells were ringing and lights flashing, but none could hear the clanging nor see the flashes of red signs.

No need to fit an alarm system when you have one inbuilt from birth.

With a view to utopia.

Seen in passing, an instruction manual and an old clay pipe.

A dinner jacket had been discarded nearby and a breeze carried the scent of orange and magnolia.

Drums playing an erratic scat of rhythm and sheer disturbance patterns penetrated the cool quiet of submission.

They flicked fans as if practicing polishing a newly turned imbuia wood salad bowl.

And there, half-covered in the red sand was the spine of a seemingly old book.

Gutenberg got there before us.

Disgraceful!

You put sugar in your soup, shoe laces in the spackling and boiling water in the fridge!

How could you?

It’s unacceptable, unmanageable, unwarranted, unnecessary, unearthly, un-you-know-what.

Tea served from a silver pot, languages minced with local flavor.

A dialect pops up for a good brew.

When the summer comes, waiting on either side of the one lane bridge puts us in quite a stew.

A cabin, the forest, the lake, the water mill and the view.

It was a blue liquid in a crystal cut glass.

Something close to that anyway.

There were stairs leading down to what looked like a laboratory, of the old type.

Various colored vapors were swirling, so we refrained from looking over the bannisters.

We drank slowly, convinced, well almost, that we could tell if anything strange happened to us before it went too far.

The next day we woke up in a garden, lying on a red and green striped beach towel. The sun was already high and hot.

The adventure had begun before we noticed, while we were subdued by that blue drink we never asked for.
