Bunches of hunches.

It all started with a seed.

We had no idea it fell out of the bag.

Years later a field of flowers had become a tourist attraction.

A cafe set up across the road, filled all year long with the delighted visitors.

A richer carpet of the most brilliantly colorful flowers, had never been seen.

We look out toward the rest of the world and wonder if this, where we are, is the best place.

There is always somewhere better.

Better in some ways.

Meanwhile we are here waiting for the light to shine on the mountainside and for the day to offer an unscripted menu.

It was all new information.

Perhaps I was learning something.

But I was not so sure I wanted to learn it.

Some topics are like daggers when delivered at the moment when they clash with emotional dynamite.

We can take some comfort in realizing this may be the best available result.

Silliness, like the idea of winning a lottery seem the best blocking thoughts. Or better still, a good joke.

Turn left, then right at the first sheep.

Was the sheep always going to be there, we wondered.

Which way we took became a guessing game about seasonal movements of livestock, river levels and cloud layers.

It was perhaps no easier than learning the Pacific Islander’s ocean navigation system using stars, wave patterns and other natural signs.

Yet, we enjoyed the success of getting to our destination, even if it took three times as long as predicted.

A shining star stays bright inside a darkened room.

It’s all about maintaining an intelligent streak.

This is no academic treatise, quite the reverse.

It’s about selecting when Not to listen.

It’s about discernment and sorting out the riff from the raff, the wheat from the chaff.

Keeping a dark room bright, that’s good.
